Guardian Angel Information

Guardian Angels are adults in our church paired with teenagers, praying for them throughout the school year. Thanks to all the teens who have filled out information cards and thanks to all our adults who have signed up to be Guardian Angels. Please contact your teen at least once per month.  Any questions or to sign up, call Sherri at 706-868-7816.

Caring People Wanted!

Your Harlem UMC Nurture team is now developing a Shepherding program for our congregation.

The Harlem UMC Shepherds program works like this: Shepherds are identified within the congregation (people who genuinely care for people and who are willing & able to follow up on their ’flock’) These Shepherds will then connect with between 5 & 10 families within the church. These families are their flock. They check with them on a regular basis, visit them, pray for them and make sure they remain connected to their church. Each Shepherd will have a mixture of families they know well and new families that have just begun to attend.

The Shepherds will also make sure that the pastor and church know of certain critical needs in the lives of their flock. If you want more info, talk with Judy Strognoff.

Angel Food Ministry

A ministry that is a vital part of our outreach to our neighbors across the area.

For only $30 anyone is able to get a box of food that is worth well over $60.  This ministry is vital to many of our area families in their struggle to make ends meet.  This wonderful ministry of food is available to anyone inside or outside our church.  For more information please contact our office secretary Debbie Nunley for more information.

 Manna Truck Food Distributions

We are excited to introduce this special food distribution every other month throughout 2008.  We generally serve over 125 families each time and offer non-perishable items in support of these local households.  This is a free service our church offers our neighbors.  Call the office and ask for more information and future dates.

Call all Pack Rats out there!!!

Did you know that your church can use a lot of those things that you just can’t seem to throw away? Take a look at the list of items that we or other area agencies are collecting. (Save this list and put it on your fridge for future reference!)

Coupons—We send these overseas to our military families. The PX will accept these coupons up to 6 months past their expiration dates!

Plastic Bags—Yes, all of those wal-mart, IGA and other plastic bags that collect in the bottom of your pantry. We use these for Columbia County Cares, Manna Truck and the backpack program.

Plastic bottles— 10 oz & 20 oz bottles are used by Columbia County Cares

Garbage bag ties—We can use these too!

Aluminum Cans—Our children’s ministry collects these cans to raise money for our local transitional house
